He'd done this before on his 2nd birthday. Luckily after 8 hrs in the emergency room at Children's Hospital he sniffed and it was gone. This time it was lodged right in the passageway. After about 15 minutes of holding him down, trying to get it out and tears on both our parts Leroy said just take him to the Urgent Care down the street.
Panicking like I always do, we drove the couple miles, signed him in, waited, waited and waited some more. Got called back and then waited some more! The nurse got a chuckle out of it so at least we could make someone smile today =).
The doctor came in and I really think he was 185 and seriously didn't need to be a doctor dealing with kids because he was the grumpiest guy alive. He looked in the nose and saw the object and went to go get the magical "thing up the nose tool". When he came back he said, "well if he doesn't move or cry this will be easy". Oh really, what 4 year old isn't going to cry when you try to hold him down against his will and get something out?! Luckily Derrick did start to cry and the thing came out on it's own with the mucus (sorry I know it's gross). I still have no clue what it was. It's about the same size as a pea.
A couple minutes later we were home and Derrick was back to normal. Now as a slight punishment, no computer games which is about to kill him! We could have had a nice calm day today, but who wants that when you can have drama and suspense =)
